Guiding Locals and Tourists Through Hurstbridge’s Evolving Village Story

The Hurstbridge Village wayfinding system was designed to support the Hurstbridge Heritage Trail—a walking tour highlighting the town’s rich history. Early research and on-site surveys revealed a key gap: visitors and locals alike struggled to find essential amenities such as public toilets, ATMs, and the train station.

Over 24 months of community consultation, the final solution was shaped by the town’s evolving identity—honouring over a century of heritage, from its origins as a logging hub, to its era as a creative, alternative enclave, and now as a vibrant, family-focused community. The design balances historical storytelling with practical navigation, creating a system that is as informative as it is welcoming.
